"RockHound" one who toils outdoors, searching for some gem, Rock or mineral.
Involves Hiking to the best spot, and sometimes, depending on the Locality, Digging, or searching gravel bars on a river, or the gravels on a beach...etc.

It falls under both! I haven't done it in years but I used to look for cinnamon garnet in a mine near where I grew up. Years later, one of the kids I used to dig with, found a very lucrative vein of tourmaline.
