You pay whatever the hotel/ network dictates. Some charge by the hour but many have roaming agreements with The Cloud, BT Openzone, T-Mobile etc. There's no standardised charge.

There are however numerous FREE hotspots available and many hotels are catching on to the idea that WiFi should be given out for no charge. For worldwide listings, check out:

The cheapest I've found in the UK is around £8 per day. Most are between £12 and £17 per day. A few bill by the hour but you'll usually max out in a couple of hours.

In all of my travels in the UK I have yet to find a hotel that provides free internet access. I travel to London, North Yorks, Notts, and Lancs fairly often. If anyone knows of a decent hotel in those areas that provides free access, do let me know!

The lowest I know is £5 per 24 hours. Of course, they do provide hourly charge, but you'll be better off with 24 hours access, as the difference in price is not that great (£2 ph), you'll get more value for money.

Well, if your in brighton, the kings hotel which I went to was free, they did not charge. Also be wary of places which ask for money for their WiFi access, sometimes you could be targetted by phishers who can take your details through WiFi points. Always ask the receptionist for details for WiFi charges.
