To make a long story short, I had about 10 boxes and a few furniture items shipped from Florida to California. The company is Four Points Van Lines in South Florida. The company delivered way past the delivery date for starters they were about 2 weeks late, which i know things happen but the company never had the decency to call me and let me know, they said it wasn't their job. Then when finally i got my stuff delivered i called to find out who i made the cashiers check out to, and they said they would only except cash. Their contract said they accepted cash, money order, or cashiers check. I was told cash or they would not deliver my stuff. I complied and gave them cash. I recieved 10 boxes like i was supposed to and my furniture, but 1 box was empty and 3 were half full and all the tape was ripped off the boxes and my tv was broken! The company will not call me back i have submitted written and verbal complaint, i have contacted the better business bureau and consumer affairs.

I have gotten dead ends from both of those agency's. Has anyone ever had a similar issue?? If so what did you do to take care of this?? I have attempted to get a hold of their actual claims department but noone returns my calls!

I had the basic movers insurance the company offered. Which is they refund 60 cents for every pound damaged. I spoke to the owner of the company and he really could care less, he yelled at me said it wasn't his job. I am so frustrated.

Go to the Florida Better Business Bureau (in the city you originated from) and lodge a complaint with the company.

If that doesn't work then contact the news agency their in Florida and have them do a piece about how to avoid getting ripped off from moving companies.

Maybe you could contact the Head Manager at the moving company via, certified letter and let them know what has happened. Also, I was wondering did you purchase movers insurance? If you did, file a claim with them.

Your unfortunate experience does sound like you've been the victim of theft or the banal attempt made by foreign speaking recently released prison parolees who now work for a sub-standard moving business in Florida.

You can bet Four Points most likely fired the thugs, who are most likely satisfying their itch for other criminal activity and illegal drug use--if they're not already in jail somewhere on some charge. Take heart they'll either spend life in prison or die soon enough.

Is Four Points liable? Only if you purchased property insurance, where it's noted on your receipt the property covered was inspected and found in good shape---signed by an employee (if he even signed his REAL name) who carries company required visible photo ID.

Video documentation of the newly unloaded and damaged property covered by this document can levy in your favor when you sue Four Points. However without an insurance receipt, you're out of the water and Four Points can breathe easily---because you have no proof of their negligence.

However, the video and hard copy evidence mentioned should be handed to your lawyer ASAP.

Wow, I would b furious. It sounds to me like you've been had. You may want to try a local news station in Fla. Sometimes they have little segments that help people when there seems to be no one else to turn to. The BBB is only able to give you information on the companies and should be used before you choose the company. As far as consumer affairs they do the same. They flag companies so others don't encounter the same horror stories. Good luck and hopefully you will be compensated for your ordeal.

Unfortunately you used cash. Credit or a check and you could fight it. No reputable company only takes cash, money orders or cashiers checks. Any court action and the judge will realize that you have little recourse.

About all you can do is file a police report. Your things were stolen. Then you will have something to use in court should you pursue it.

I would contact a lawyer. I have moved twice now across country and have never been treated like this.
