My dad has been listening to music from the 70's,80's,and 90's since is was born. Somehow he got me hooked. Now I'm a Ozzy, Who, Veritcal Herizon, Lynard, and Zepplin fan. I don't complain, but my friends do. I do have a friend that shares the same interest, but the rest are updated. How can I compromise when we are in the car and I wanna pop in a Marshall Tucker Band cd? HELP ME PLEASE!

Listen to all of the old stuff, and any new stuff that you like. Good music is good music and it doesn't matter what era it comes from.

As another poster indicated, how can you complain about led zepplin

Some music is timeless. The bands you listen to will be admired by true musicians and music lovers for a long time. Today's music is fleeting and never lasts. That is why most younger people have never heard of Digital Underground, and New Kids on the Block. Even if they have heard of Vanilla Ice, Faster Pussycat or MC Hammer who were huge when I was in high school are a joke now. Keep listening to the classics and when the music your friends listen to are sampling Zeppelin and Hendrix you can tell them about the good stuff.

You don't compromise on something you love. I had the same problem in the past and i never shrugged because someone else didn't like my music. You are an individual and your music shows that. You are not into the music of the moment, you like the classic rock that will live on forever. Your father shared a gift with you and that was his love of music. Not everyone takes to their parents gifts, but you did and that is a wonderful thing. Your friend will have to deal for the moment and as long as they are in your can they will share in what you dad has shared with you.

Hey, it's not unusual for younger people to appreciate older music. I have some friends a lot younger than me that are into Cole Porter, Broadway, The Animals and Beatles of all things. I'd suggest you be the gracious"loser" and let them listen to what they prefer. But do not agree that they are right - stand your ground but reinforce the fact that you are more mature and are willing to let them have their way because fighting gets nowhere - there is no point in trying to convince them.

Most of the songs I listen to are classic rock. Some of the best music ever. You just can't beat Led Zepp. I wish some of the new music was half as good.

You've been enlightened. Try a band called Montrose with Sammy Hagar. They used to rock.

When your around others who you know don't enjoy your music. Just listen to the radio, maybe you'll find something new that you'll enjoy listening to as well.
