In these modern times, what with women's lib and all, many guys think that women want a man to not be too manly. Although some women want that, most don't.
Most women want a man to be a man. What that means is:
A man is decisive. Most women want a man who can make a decision and stick with it. Even if you are sometimes wrong (but don't be unreasonable).
A man is not a wimp. This does not mean go getting into fist fights. It means standing up for what you believe. It means even if she tries to change your mind about something and you won't change your mind about it she will still respect you for standing up for what you believe. Don't carry this overboard however.
A man understands that "Girls just want to have fun" and he will not unreasonably interfere with her girly fun.
A man is not a doormat for her or for anyone.
A man is always willing to be a man. That means that you are always willing to drive, open the door for her, carry out the garbage, defend her, suggest where to go for dinner, suggest which movie to see, etc.
A man must sometimes say no to his woman.
A man should have some interests outside the relationship, such as spending time with his friends, playing sports, etc.
A man should be able to be happy spending time alone. He should be able to be happy without his woman, but he should be happier with her.
A man should not be driven by what others think about him.
A man should be a man even when it's difficult.
A man should be at least somewhat stoic.
A man should be moral, considerate, respectful.
A man can cry, but it should be rare and private.
And the list goes on.

What woman is say is that she want someone to love her, to support her, to care for her and to protect. Not a boy who runs and hide.

I am a woman so I will tell you the truth here... She doesnt know what she means. She is talking about a combination of a super hero who will protect her and keep her safe and a guy from one of those romance novels who is her perfect match in every way! We are insane that is the only explanation for us! We all want a fairy tale Prince Charming on the White Horse the whole thing.... Good luck!
