I haven't seen the movie (yet) but I do know that there are some scenes that are nothing like the book and mess up the story line.

As a movie alone it was good. I mean it wasn't great but as a movie it was okay. But of course it strayed away from the book. A lot of things had to be cut out and eragon is one of those books, like harry potter, where it's hard to make it so short and still keep the story line. I don't want to tell you too much about the movie, but the whole scene where eragon's uncle dies. Eragon comes home and finds his uncle dead in the barn and Brom comes and lights the barn on fire and takes Eragon away. I don't remember that from the book. Plus there is only one real scene where they show Brom training Eragon and it isn't much. If you had never read the book it would be a great movie, but it really does leave out a lot of stuff which makes it complicated.

Have you looked at the angry mob-message boarders on IMDB? I saw them last night and there was like a whole bunch over a thousand actually are blogging about it! There was this one guy who tried to see it with his dad and the first 30 minutes they had to march out and demand their money back! HAHAHAHA! Okay, and this one guy actually admitted he liked to 5 minute trailer for NORBIT much more than the whole movie. On the plus side this motion picture didn't destroy movie entertainment.
Okay the thing is most producers just cant fit everything from a book into a movie. Sure Harry Potter had like three hours of tape in it but that's cuz they probably have experienced directors and actors(I have personally not seen the movies, nor read the books fully) and Eragon had a first time director, like three people who haven't even experienced being in a movie yet, and some just have tiny lines to say. I hear that Nasuada didn't even introduce herself.

The movie was, admittedly, a horrible adaptation of the book. Most of the time the film is okay in regards to the book, but this wasn't even close. Of course the time and money needed to do a book justice just isn't there. Besides, no one's attention span would survive a film longer than 2 hours. Those that can are readers and have a better film in their heads than could ever possibly be put into production.

I've never read the book. The movie was god-aweful. It was trite, juvenile, and poorly directed. The acting was atrocious. Malkovich called in his performance, apparently. The boy that played Eragon should have his Actor's Guild card revoked. The only bright side was the special effects for the dragon, but even that wasn't worth the price of admission.

Normally I don't watch a movie that's based on a book 'cuz it would make me crazy comparing book with movie. But I say go ahead and watch Eragon bc even though it does sorta change things around, it is still GREAT.

Most movies made from books are. You just can't put everything into a movie that is contained in the book. The writer and director can only film the parts they believe are relevant and important to the story. Many times, that doesn't jibe with what fans of the book think is relevant and important.

I won free tickets to see an early screening of the film. I was so excited i went to see it even thgouh i was really sick and should have stayed in bed.

It was HORRIBLE. Now normally i can appreciate the movie even if the book is much better but to me it Hardly seemed like the same story. It just wasnt worth my time andi didnt even pay to see it. Now i liked the book but i wasnt even i die hard fan of them and i felt this way about the movie. I wouldnt waste my time on it to be hones. Wait till it comes out on basice cable and laugh at it. Thats what i would recomend.

I saw parts of the movie and thought it was a complete rip-off of Anne McCaffrey's writing.
