I have a really bad itchiness in one spot in my areola in only one of my breasts. I am going to my family doctor today, even though he is very nice,he is a guy and honestly I don't feel comfortable enough to be naked in front of him. What do I do? should I go ahead and show him or should I ask him to refer me to an especialist and what kind?, a gyn or a dermatologist?. Thanks.

No,no, I didn't mean my doctor was a freak, he is a very nice person, I just don't feel comfortable because I don't like being naked in front of people, that's all, I don't think this happens to everybody, does it?

You should definitely start with your general practitioner. If he thinks that the condition requires secondary treatment, he will refer you out to a person he feels qualified.

If you're using insurance, you'll typically have to get a referral to a specialist anyway; most do not allow for self-referrals.

As a final note, unless your doctor has done something completely inappropriate, you should just treat EVERY visit as professionally as possible, because frankly that's what your doctor does. He doesn't get his kicks from seeing people naked. He's there to do a job.

Update: You're going to have to expose your breast to SOMEONE. You may as well start with your family doctor.
