Yes, they used to cover all of our windows, It only used to happen when the farmer burnt the stubble after harvest in the field opposite our house, It doesn't happen now because a dirty great big warehouse has been built on the field, I think i preferred the thunderbugs.

Don't remember anything called Thunderbugs, but we had what we called f*ckbugs because they were always stuck together...little red and black things that flew and there were zillions of them when I was a kid. I still see a few every summer but they aren't epidemic most years.

I had a few in my pictures 3 years ago when I took them down to clean the glass, haven't seen any since then! There used to be loads.

the little black midges,they come from the ears of ripe corn that is why you dont see them yet,you will in august
