I have no artistic talent whatsoever, but I love to color eggs. I've tried various kits but frankly, I've been most satisfied with the results of the most simple method: food dye.

Fill a coffee cup about 2/3 full of very hot water, and add 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar. Add about 10 drops of food coloring, either one color or combination of colors. Drop in a hard-boiled egg for 2-5 minutes depending on how dark you want it, and remove to dry. Voila! A pretty rainbow of eggs.

I suppose if you wanted, from there you could also drop on some Elmer's glue and glitter, or some stickers. I tend to go with the simple rainbow, myself.

I have no answer, but I have a question: does it make any difference if the egg is still hot, warm or cold when dropping it into the recipe for painting?

Latex paint is easier to wash off your hands than oil based paint!
