I need to select a topic relevant to the issue "how democratic is american society".
I am having some trouble thinking of a good topic to write a 10-15 page paper on. Government and politics are really not my strong point. Some good ideas would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

Any process where the majority rules is democratic by definition.
Any process where everyone gets a voice is republican by definition.

Neither one of these has anything to do with the current incarnations of the Democratic and Republican parties.

Well, since we aren't a democracy I guess it should be easy!

We are a Representative Republic! Our founders did not want a democracy as there would be very little protection for those who were not in the majority!

I don't know a country who is a true democracy.

You should write your paper on why our forefathers set this country up the way they did! There are a lot of reasons , protecting the minority is just one.!

Try this, you can learn a lot about outr forefathers and the Constitution! You need to do your own homework as that is the only way you learn!

American society tends to follow the group. Not to Democratic. This is how we end up with such an ignorant congress.

The government is slowly losing its democracy from within that is affecting our lives everyday..

Laws are passed every year limiting our rights, and are eroding them. Mid cabinet officials that help make our nation's decisions are heald to little accountability. There's too much influence of money and lobbyist in our goverernment.
