Hello, I was wondering because I've recently set up a 55 gallon satwater aquarium and have a number of fish. The guy at the fish store said what I have now they all go together but I just want to make sure. They've been together for a short while now with no problems, except having to bring back the 2 damsels that I had started the tank with they, went after my Picasso fish. I have 1--3" picasso, 1 --4" foxface rabbitfish, 1-3" porcupine puffer, 1 -- 5" dogface puffer, 1 chocolate chip star fish, 1--4" diamond back gobie, and 1--3.5" niger trigger. I also wanna know if that is too much fish for the tank as well or can I get anymore?

Thanks.

*There is axproximently 50lbs of rock in the tank as well-would i need more rock?.*

I would say your tank is overstocked already. It may not seem so at the time, but the sizes of the fish you list tell me they aren't full grown. And I think you'll be looking at some aggression problems in the future.

Here are the adult sizes for your fish:
Picasso trigger - 10" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=253

foxface rabbitfish - 9" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=687

Porcupine puffer - 18" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=244

dogface puffer - 13" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=222

diamond goby - 6" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=220

niger trigger - 12" http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=257

chocolate chip star - 6" http://www.marinedepotlive.com/chocolate-chip-sea-star---protoreastor-nodosus--inverts--stars.html

Some general "rules" of marine fishkeeping are that you shouldn't mix fish from the same family, of the same color, or have the same body shape. Saltwater fish maintain much larger territiories and will be aggressive to any fish that even looks like it would be a potential competitor. I'll provide a chart below where you can look at some very general guidelines for reef fish compatibility.

How much rock you would need depends on the type of rock you have. If it's something with a Pacific origin, it's more porous and 1 pound per gallon is fine. Atlantic rock is less porous and should be used at 1 1/2 - 2 pounds per gallon.

Do they act happy? I think you named
seven fish.

55 gallons sounds good.

I don't have any experience with saltwater.
