I have heard that if you have a dog before the baby, some dogs become jealous. This depends on the breed too. Just closely observe the baby when they are together. They probably will bond. good luck.

We have four dogs and have never had problems with our kids. My pediatrician told me that some new studies are showing that infants raised around animal dander are less likely to develop allergies.

All that said, do not leave an infant alone with a dog. Even the most well-behaved, good natured dog may respond aggressively to an unwanted pinch or ear pull. Remember, dogs are pack animals, it is your job to teach the dog that the baby ranks higher in the pack than he/she does.

No, we had our dog before my girls were born, and our dog did great with them. She is still good with them. I was actually surprised that she was not jealous of them or anything as she has separation anxiety. A dog is good for a family, my daughters are now 3 and love helping with the dog!

i have an 7 week old son and a st bernard and my dog and baby co-exsist very well she doesnt bother him but when he cries she is the first one to the crib to make sure he is ok. i think as long as your dog isnt aggressive towards your baby then its fine. you may even find as your baby gets older the dog will be a welcomed friend.

only if your baby is allergic to it, or its dander. Or, if you have an aggressive dog that would attack a baby. Otherwise, there is no harm what so ever.
