If we fail to succeed in Iraq, the ramifications will be tremendous. For one, it would be hard to ever get people being oppressed by Radical Islam to ever openly resist again. We will encourage the terrorists by proving OBL correct when he said that America does not have the stomach for an extended fight or the taking of casualties.
If we fail to succeed, we will encourage Iran to complete development of nuclear weapons upsetting the balance of power in the Middle East immeasurably. And ultimately, we will only be delaying the inevitable.
Mark my words, you will be fighting for your very existence if these extremists get any more powerful. You can fight them now or fight them later. Peace is not an option. They do not want peace. You cannot reason with them, you cannot bargain with them, you have only two choices, beat them or surrender to them.
The Economy be damned. Nothing else matters as long as these people threaten the world. They intend to destroy America by attacking everything including our economy. They are at their weakest now. They can only get stronger. To loose the initiative now would be a sin against humanity.

The problem with leaving and not finishing what we started isn't just about losing face or pride. It's about giving in to the terrorists. I know some people think it's a civil war that's going on over there now, but I believe that it's not. I think this way, because of what I've read about insurgents coming over from Iran. So if this is the case how could it be a civil war?
I also don't see where the economy is being effected by our occupation of Iraq. If you are thinking of the gas prices going up again. I feel this is do to us not having enough capacity in our refineries then it is about Iraq.
The thing is we don't have a stagnate economy, so we will see fluctuations in prices do to all sorts of reasons.
If you are thinking about the national debt. Well that also fluctuates and I have never seen where we've had to pay more in taxes do to an increase in our national debt. (We have also never gotten major tax breaks when it's supposedly was paid off.) People are going to have to always pay taxes and that's all there is to it. It is also up to the government to be better money managers.

Walking away is not losing, but they will surely call it a win. That would embolden them, and Iran will feed off that. I think staying will bog down the economy, and people get tired of war, especially if they don't know why we are there. So to answer, the more detrimental is staying there and not accomplishing much more. Everyone thinks we are there for different reasons, so I can't wait till Pelosi brings them home, and we see what really happens. Watching Iraq without us there will be fun to watch. Bring them home. What's the worse that could happen?
Letting the terrorists know that we will cave in after a deadline? Knowing that we are once again laxed, come on over and hit us again? If the economy is being bogged down, just wait until they regroup. I don't know what will happen, but just walking away won't solve anything. That's what we did with the USS Cole, the Embassies, and they just get away with it, and they get another idea that we are soft. And we will be seen as such if we just hand over the reins. GO PELOSI, just bring the boys home, nothing will happen. Sure. And if it does, who's fault would that be? I know it won't be pinned on her.

I think time has proven that war is good for the economy. So I am a little confused the second half of your question.
As for should we stay or should we go, the answer is we should win. To be clear that doesn't mean that I think we should "stay the course". I think Bush is a total tool for the way he tried to fight this war. But running away is not a viable solution in my mind, I would like to see somebody come up with some creative alternatives rather than playing politics with this.
Regardless of which party you belong to, do you honestly believe that the options we have been presented with are good ones? I don't, I think the options we have been given are retarded. Why can't we come up with a winning strategy and put that into action.
Look, I understand peoples frustration, and leaving Iraq may seem like the best solution in the short term but the long term consequences of that are not known, and honestly are you really ready to take that chance?

My concerns with the McCain/Palin fee ticket look what incredibly some the different conservative concerns are: If something happens to McCain, will Palin be waiting to accomplish? Are they alienating their middle conservative base? i'm additionally properly attentive to McCains perspectives on unlawful immigration, yet Gov. Palin has did no longer permit hers be common. the different great question is can those 2 lead the rustic removed from an impending financial catastrophe, or will they kowtow to neocon regulations as Bush has carried out. i'm an element of the non secular marvelous and that i'm greater of a customary conservative than incredibly some the greater moderen group. I definitely do no longer think of the two candidate (the two McCain and Obama) are what this u . s . desires. I consider Joe Lieberman on the element that what we prefer is somebody who can artwork throughout occasion strains and get bipartisan help on the matters that are affecting us the main. Neither Obama or McCain would be waiting to try this i've got self belief. it is my honest opinion.

I feel if we leave Iraq without a stable government in place, our troops died for nothing.
It's not just about losing face - it's about having the cajones to finish what we started. We have a very poor track record of that - VietNam, Iraq the first time, Somalia.....our enemies know that they don't have to defeat us mililtarily - just in the court of public opinion, and the Muslim fanatics are absolutely brilliant at manipulating the media.

It is probably not even about Iraq. More like a practice session for our Military. A chance to upgrade our equipment, get new processors and man up a few patriots.
The real "War" is still unknown.
Could be U.S.A. vs China, Russia, Iran, Syria, France and Korea
Or could be everyone quits Fing with us.

I think that in all honesty, only a slight few benefit from the war in Iraq. This would be Halliburton executives and the legacy of the president and his cronnies. All other Republicans do whatever they are told because they are brainwashed sheep. The word "liberal" has been ingrained in their tiny little brains as anyone who doesn't agree with their masters. Republicans are trained to hate "liberals" no matter who the person or what the idea. Their parents were Republican and they are Republican. They don't know why. They just know they don't want to be identified as a liberal.
It's sad really. If you would have told me 10 years ago that over 50% of the population was mindless and spineless, then I'd have laughed at you. Boy was I wrong. What a sad world this has become.

I'm not a Republican, but think you need to be explicit that the second half is about the crushing debt this war is putting us under, as at least one answerer didn't seem to grasp that.

Loosing in Iraq. They have made it clear they will fight us on our soil or theirs. Our economy and life as we know it isn't going to mean anything if they take us over. And if you think we have the missiles and whatnot to stop them they are in our country right now!!
