If the inside of a Microwave door had been burned/melted and has caused a small hole, is it still safe to use?.....The hole doesn't go all the way through to the outside...just through the "dotted" layer.

I'd be looking for a new microwave as the dotted layer is the one most responsible for containing the waves.

One dermatologist said never to stand in front of or near a microwave. It's not radiation, but the microwave heats the cells internally. This warning is especially true for children who should not be anywhere near a working microwave. Your's.......I'd be 10 feet away!! Get a new one, they aren't that expensive anymore.

The "dotted" part is actually the electromagnetic shield/screen that has holes large enough to see through, but small enough not to let microwaves out.

This hole has compromised the safety feature of the microwave, and should be discarded or serviced if it is a real expensive one you want to keep.

Please do not operate it in this condition.

This sounds like a microwave that i would not be willing to use. contact the supplier and see if they can provide a replacement door.

Any place that has a microwave (commercial bldg) has signs posted that one is in use. This is for appliances with NO damage. This should tell you that using a damaged unit is not good. Get it fixed or replaced. Do not use it.

You should never use a damaged microwave....or any kind of cooking appliance for that matter. Go to Wal*Mart and get another one for $40 and throw that one away!!
