1B, 2C, by inspection. as algebra

1) M-4 = (2/3)(L-4) and M = (3/4)L
(3/4)L-4 = (2/3)(L-4)
9L - 48 = 8(L-4)
9L - 48 = 8L - 32
L = 16
M = 12

well question 1..
seeing that this took place four years ago... you take how old Marion and Les are in the answers and subtract 4 from each:
A. Marion is 5 and Les is 7
B. Marion is 8 and Les is 12
C. Marion is 11 and Les is 16
D. Marion is 14 and Les is 20

then you divide the answers:
A. 5/7
B. 8/12
C. 11/16
D. 14/20
after doing this you simplify...
A. 5/7
B. 2/3
C. 11/16
D. 7/10
and your answer is B

For question 2...
you take how old Mary and her brothers are in the answers you add 1 to each number. and subtract the answers you get and see which answer comes out to be 102:
A. 31+28+28=87
B. 33+30+30=93
C. 34+31+31=96
D. 36+33+33=102
and your answer is D.

1) In every one of those answers Marion is 3/4 as old as Les. What you need to do is find the answer where when you subtract 4 from each age the resulting numbers have Marion being 2/3 Les' age. (B)

2) Start with the brother's age in each answer, add one to that age, then there's two of them so double it. Now add one to Mary's age in that same answer, and add that to the number you got using the brother's ages. (C)
