I will have to support from a desk...
I am too old (is 39 old?) and too crippled (cancer survivor, herniated disks, back surgery, bad veins, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, food allergies, and on and on...).
I could help in a hospital though or paperwork, and I would be willing anytime the need arose.

Obviousy from the other answerers here, there are many patriots who have heart, but apparently lack minds.
If you guys know anything about human nature, it's that most people act out of their own self-interests, not for the interests of others. That includes CEOs, generals, and... good lord, Presidents & Dictators. If you really think that Mr. Bush (or Mr. Clinton) actually has your best interests in mind, you are politically very naive.
As another poster said, I'd pick up a weapon if an enemy landed on our shores, but if some politician or general says go 12,000 miles to fight for American security & freedom in a desert country that didn't invite us, no damn way, given what I know about US military history & imperialism.

When ever my country needs me I'm ready!! I would die ten times over for my country!!! I believe it is the best I believe in the men and women who protect it now!! I believe in our president. You say what you want Iraq had terrorist training camps. Iraq had an evil dictator. Iraq was a problem for a long time. Saddam had many of chances to work with the UN however was too busy playing games!! After Clinton and after 9-11 the world had to feel our thunder for the lives that were lost in the WTC in Yemen Africa and all the other failed attempts. We needed to have a successful mission we needed to display some power. The rest of the world must now know the consequences for their actions. Now they do Iran may be next??? However I think they know and will give up the hostages!!

that's what we are trying to prevent. people have a hard time understanding that. get them on their own turf so that we don't have to fight in our own streets. but, yes. i would fight proudly. and i would cross any body of water to do so if my country calls on me. the military is not for everyone, or else i would've already joined up... but, if a call was made.. i'd be first in line. that's the way it should be. i wouldn't do it blindly, i'm not stupid.. but, (i know i'm gonna get flak for this), i trust my government when it has to do with military involvement abroad. i don't believe they'd send american people to die for no reason.. and no, i'm not ignorant. i just know my history, i know my love for my country, and i know my love for friends/family. those are enough for me.

I would fight for my country no matter what. I live in the USA, and this is the best country in the world in my opinion. If I had to pick up a sniper rifle to kill an invader, I would. I would rather help my country and die knowing I did something right instead of dying like a coward.

What Country? 30 + million, that's million, illegal aliens.
Welcome to the thousand points of light ....the thousand year Reich, fool.
Viet Nam, gee, if I am not mistaken, they sent Ambassadors to the U.S. asking for help to free them from the tyranny of colonialism, and we declined. That was President Lincoln?
Viet Nam, gee, if I am not mistaken, during a war downed U.S. pilots were assisted in returning home safely by some guy named Ho Chi Mighn and asked that we remember their help.
Viet Nam asked once again for help, and we told them no, cause I guess France was a whitey Nation at the time.
So, Viet Nam went to the devil for help, USSR, and then after humiliating and defeating the French that's when we stepped in.
Grenada, wow, 40 Cubans what a victory!
Panama? re-enforcement of the Monroe Doctrine, China is playing in our back yard,
Maybe that is why we opened the door to assimilating Mexico? Cause Now that Mexico could be strengthened by China we suddenly have become altruistic benefactors, huh?
Iraq? We played with Iran and got our fingers burned, had to have a reason to enter Iraq, so we told Saddam it would be okay to invade Kuwait and then someone enlisted the support of a Saudi Arab boogey man to allgedly perpetrate 911 to serve as justification to invade, not Saudi Arabia but, Iraq which is not an invasion but rather an effort to prevent Iran from taking the spoils of war, being Iraq, which it defeated.
If the aforestated is not true then why does our givernment say we are in Iraq? Oh, thats right it keeps teling us different reasons none of which being credible, that leaves you with what I stated.
Would the U.S. permit 911? Well, would the U.S, permit Pearl Harbour?

In domestic defence, absolutely. To cross the seas at the whim of a politician, probably not. It would all depend on the circumstances I guess.
