Prom is coming up (May 2nd) and I have no clue how to dance. I'm really nervous about prom. I was told about 70% of the people on the dance floor are just winging it lol, but I just don't want to embarrass myself infront of my date. Do you have any tips to help me out? Plz proms coming fast.

ok honey, let me help you out here.
first step: LISTEN. What kind of music is being played? slow, fast, or upbeat? Get in tune before you bust a move, because if your trying to waltz during ciara, it wont look so good.
step 2: OBSERVE: look at everyone around you. What are they doung? but start simple. dont try to dance like the guy whos breakdancing, or doing flips. start simple by just kinda bobbong your head, and moving your hips in time to the music. then work your way up.
step 3: HAVE fUN: if you want to go all out for one song and just go crazy, go for it. just be yourself, and everyone has a dance inside them, waiting to jump out. let it come out, and get down!

My generation prefers ballroom dancing so it's even harder to learn when compared to the shake, rattle and bobble of today. Suggestion: Listen to the music first, then imagine you are dancing to the beat while still in your seat. If you are able to move with the beat, continue imagining while you go out on the floor and take it from there. Other dancers will be just like you are, copying from anyone they think has the right moves. Most of all, don't worry other people might be watching you. They've all been thru this before.

Take an introductory course at a dance school like Arthur Murray's! They have pretty cheap beginners specials that are of course designed to lure you into taking more lessons, but just going for the first set will give you more confidence and ability than 90% of the other people at the prom!

And dancing is a skill that will improve your popularity with the ladies.. believe me! A man who can lead can make any woman feel like a princess on the dance floor.. and making her feel good about herself makes her feel good about you.. and.. well you get the picture!

why not ask your mom and dad to help. i know, it's seems like they're ancient but, i'll bet they can give you the basics. do you have an older bro or sis that could help you? how about a younger aunt or uncle? my dad is 78 and can dance all night. not the ballroom stuff either. he can move. the best advice i can give you is to relax. you aren't on mtv, though some like to think they are. just listen to the music and keep the beat. you'll do fine. have fun.

Better plan of hurting your ankle, if you left it this long...the knee can work too, but you need crutches or at least a cane
