We lived in a wooded area and I have a phobia of snakes. Any ideas?

Moth balls is the best and cheapest thing to use. If you want to keep snakes out of the house put a few mothballs around the doors and perimeter of the house. I don't know why it works, but I guarantee you it DOES work!

An "old school remedy" is to put lime around the perimeter of the house or yard. The lime burns the underbelly of snakes so they hate to cross it.

There is also a product called Snake Away (that my grandmother used in her house) that works. The problem with the Snake Away is that it smells something like mothballs. Here is a link to the product description.

I hope this is helpful!

They have this stuff called Snake away...We used it on a hog farm I worked on. It seemed to work...But you have to keep putting it down ever so ofter. Don't feel bad I have the same Phobia and I live in the south where if the snakes look at you --you get sick and If they bite you---you die....

Yes Moth Balls you can get it a the stores
my Grandmother and My mother has always used it and it helps . We all live in the wooded areas and we got it spread all over around our house and we also have a bridge with a creek and we got it under and around the bridge and where ever else we don't want snakes around. I got Five children so believe me it comes in handy.

Oh me too!! First eliminate all food sources and hiding places. Let the snakes go feed on your neighbor's mice and live in their wood pile!

I can't speak for this product, but I would probably buy.....a truck load...if it actually works:

moth balls is the same thing as snake away, just cheaper.

You do have to reapply about every other month and if you have children make sure they can't get into it.

Go to the sports store and purchase several bottles of deer scent and applying it liberally to your clothing to change how you smell.
