Where to even start? When did she become Secretary of State? Who's paying for this trip of hers and how is this her job to talk with world leaders? Is she making policy for us we other countries? Is she laying down ultimatums? Who gave her the permission to spend our money to go on this trip for what ever reason? She is the Rep. of the 8th dist. of California and OK the speaker of the house, but how is anything she is doing over there her job? You know, you all that seem very diligent in defending these folks in the House and Senate better seriously get your heads out of the sand. For all the bitching that has gone on about scandal this and scandal that or "they are walking over the constitution" rhetoric we keep hearing! It seems to me your worries are misdirected. The Dems are making some very scary moves right now and it seems to be them (the Dems- House and Senate) that are trying to change not only the constitution but are structure of government. Where is your separation/powers?

Well first, she has very little to think with.
The "dims" remind me of a high pressure hose that has been turned loose with the water on full blast.
They have no direction, they ALL want to go to bed with the enemy.
They will destroy America if they are not brought into check.
Why would anybody in their right mind follow these fools?

Sorry to confuse you with the facts:

I can't respond any better than this site did (link below:

"1. Pelosi is heading a bipartisan delegation to Syria. Apparently, House Republicans are repulsive, suicidal, and treasonous too?

2. Trips from U.S. officials to Syria are not that unusual. Sens. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) recently traveled to Damascus, where Specter reportedly “stressed the importance of reactivating the dialogue between the United States and Syria to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.” Let me guess, the Republican senator from Pennsylvania also deserves to have his patriotism questioned, right?

3. Pelosi’s trip is consistent with the judgment of the Iraq Study Group, which as recently as Thursday, the White House praised for offering guidelines that lawmakers should follow.

4. The Bush administration itself has initiated some tentative discussions with Syrian officials recently. By the right’s logic, it would appear the Bush administration is undermining the Bush administration’s policy.

5. The White House said it had not been informed about Pelosi’s delegation visiting Syria. This is false — Bush and Pelosi discussed it on Thursday.

6. A number of right-wing Republican lawmakers are already in Syria now.

Not only are the administration’s attacks on Pelosi hypocritical, but the timing suggests they are a partisan hit. ThinkProgress has learned that a delegation of Republicans is currently in Syria. (This has not been previously reported by the press.) Why did the White House wait until Pelosi’s imminent visit to raise this issue publicly, and not make mention of the Republicans already there?

Here’s what the White House isn’t talking about:

Republican Reps. Aderholt and Wolf are currently visiting Syria. According to a congressional official on Rep. Robert Aderholt’s (R-AL) staff, Aderholt and Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) are currently visiting Israel and Syria.

TP’s report has been confirmed by Bloomberg."

Since you seem to have never heard of Congress-person's going places to learn what's going on in order to DO THEIR JOBS, I'll have to assume you've only begun following news in these last few days.

If you were to read the Constitution you would find out that Pelosi is not empowered to make foreign policy. Even if she were to forget this and make some kind of deal with a head of state who would likewise have to forget this, it would NOT be binding.

Everyone involved knows this, as it's fairly common knowledge among people who know anything about how the US government works.

She does not need permission to do her job, or, rather, she got permission when she was hired to do her job in the last election.

It's her job because she makes decisions that require her to know stuff. (You, who I gather is a Republican supporter may have difficulty with the idea of some people basing decisions on fact and reality, rather than wishful thinking, but it really is better.)

Part of her job involves deciding how our tax money is used, for instance. So knowing more about things relevant to use of our tax money is also part of her job.

Talking to people to find out what they know and what they think about various issues is NOT the same as, say, signing treaties with them. (It would be our Headless of State who would do that, once it was ratified by the Senate -- otherwise it's not a binding treaty.)

If you were to look back over time, you would see that Pelosi is not the first Congress-person to go overseas -- even Republicans do it.

She is usurping no powers not hers. She's merely exercising her powers in a way unfamiliar to you -- by finding out what's so, rather than inventing facts.

You've only been used to a Congress that refused to do it's job, and instead was a rubber stamp for every insane idea that popped into the President's head.

THAT was the unusual state of affairs; not this current one where many in Congress are actually doing their true jobs -- for a change.

Boy, I guess if the media were to start doing THEIR jobs, and investigating and reporting on reality you'd REALLY have a coronary, wouldn't you?

As you say, "what in the world is Nancy Pelosi thinking?" It's duly elected speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. Leader of one our legislative bodies that was just voted into office by the american public in November 2006.

"Where to even start?" Frankly, you might want to start with a declarative sentence here. It's really poor form to begin with a rhetorical question, especially one that doesn't imply an answer.

"When did she become Secretary of State?" Not sure what you are trying to say here. No one has said that she is the Secretary of State. Not sure who said this at all. A simple look in the congressional Yellow Book shows that she is not.

"Who's paying for this trip of hers . . . " We are, the American taxpayer.

"How is this her job to talk with world leaders?" She is the number 3 in line in Presidential succession, and she is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. She has a direct influence over the nation's budget and policy priorities. It is in the interests of our republic to have its leaders to have the best information possible to make their decisions. As the Number 3 elected official in our republic, it is of service to her country that she gather facts and forge relationships with other world leaders.

"Is she laying down ultimatums?" Not sure where this question is coming from. The answer is no.

"Who gave her permission . . . ." We did when we elected her. We also did when we elected our previous representatives, who, through previous legislative bodies, passed laws allowing members of Congress to make trips to further the interests of the United States.

And after that, your questions get more inane. I'd refer you back to any eigth grade civics text book.

I'm a little angry at whoever has misled you like this.

And your logic is...Americans, the arbiters of free speech, should be able to communicate right? You're wrong. People have the right to speak with whomever they want as long as the other person doesn't mind. Your president should have done that before he took office. Then he would have been exposed as the world's most dangerous person.
