When did the Barbarians ever force democracy on people? when did the United states ever enslave anyone? Barbarians did not do as you have said, they typically raided, took what they wanted (people, crops, gold, and horses) and rode off again. The spread of democracy was more of a Roman or Greek idea. (see the conquests of Alexander the Great or the Roman Republic) it kept people from wanting to go back to their old governments, unfortunately it also Hellanized the various cultures which led to alot of friction over time. the United States has never enslaved anyone, instead every country they have ever invaded (Japan, Vietnam, Korea) has eventually profited from their invasion, even to the point of beating them economically.

Since civilisation emerged at various locations scattered upon the Earth, there are still differences and distinctions among various people; and therefore lines of demarcations and boundaries dividing one kind of people form the other. We can easily see that all groups of people regard themselves to be civilised, and that is what they normally are. But the problem starts when people thing that they are more civilised than the rest, or they are along the right path to be fully civilised. The concepts of civilisation are inherent to each group, whereas on the exterior there is defensive shell that tend to be barbaric, brutal and crude towards other factions
If we regard the process of human civilisation as an ongoing effort then we can see that our attitudes are changing. Nowadays it is far difficult for any country to wage war against the other, or keep faction within it own boundaries under suppression and tyranny. Instead of past times where people were unable to form their independent opinions about matter of national and international concerns, people in today’s world are more opinionated and collectively conscious of what goes on in the world. The emergence of information technology has also made it possible for members of the public across the globe to participate in debates where there voices can heard, registered and recognised.
If there are still barbaric ideas dominant in the world then this is not going to last very far into the future. It has been instinctive for human societies to exert aggression upon one another but now human mind is in search of intelligence that would help it solve matters and issues more urgent nature.

Wow, what a wonderful question!
Well, I do not know for sure what is in those Americans' brains, but you probably right.
As human beings, we all have need for power. We need to feel free to do anything as we wish, up to certain level. For some people, the level of this need is not really high, but certain people have very high level of this need. They want everything is done as they wish, according to their way. They seem to be aggressive. When there is no conflict with others regarding purpose, ideology, or interest, it's OK. But it's impossible, because as human beings, we are different in many ways. Moreover, we do have feeling of dignity, so that when those "harsh" people tell us this and that, we will sneer at them,"Who do you think you are, huh?".
In our daily lives, we may come across such kind of men. It's the time to bring your baseball bat! It's very natural... sometimes the cause is very simple, just like different way of thought, but sometimes it is more complicated. Some people are born, or brought up, in such way. But anyway, if they are really mean and harsh, don't worry, one day they will be thrown down.

Mm - what country are you from? Doesn't sound like any Americans I know.
It's more of a: let us free you from your dicatator who is murdering your people. Unfortunately, some people want to be the dictators and try to take that freedom away from their countrymen.
Animals??

Why do people fail to use improper grammar when stating such a valid point? It defeats your purpose, and mocks those of us that would and could have phrased that in a much more eloquent manner...

It's human nature, that's all. It doesn't matter how decent the rest of us are, there'll always be one bad apple to spoil everything. Humans and ants are apparently the only creatures to wage war on their own species.
