I went to a store called Plato's Closet (upper-class second hand store) and bought a few clothing items for my Sister on Thursday, March 29th. When I came home and gave her the items the sizes didn't fit her and appeared to be shrunken from previous owners. I called on Friday and spoke with one of the employees and they had told me that they accept all “returns” on items that are less than 7days old, still had the tags, and original receipt- in which I had all. I drove 2 hours in traffic only to find out that Plato’s Closet does NOT accept returns and only Store Credit will be given. I am too far away and store credit will not be satisfactory.

I am asking HOW do I get them to allow my returns so I am able to receive my money back on my credit card??

The "store credit" is not stated on the receipt nor did I see it posted anywhere at the store when I went back to do my return.

Buyer beware.

When you make a purchase - particularly a purchase at an off-brand second-hand store, it would make good sense to ask about their return policy.

From the store's point of view, a store credit instead of a money refund makes sense - they can maintain a good rapport with their regular customers who may occasionally buy something that just isn't the right thing, while avoiding having folks wandering through town scam them out of refunds.

I'd recommend taking a store credit and giving it to your sister to use there.

Did they tell you when you made your purchase that they only give store credit for returns? Was it printed on your receipt or do they have a sign stating that in the store? They have to make you aware of their policies. If they have not, then they have to give you your money back.

Explain your situation to them that you drove all that way. Throw a huge fit and they'll have to do something. Ask to speak with the manager.

you can't.
If they have it stated in the store or on the receipt that they only give store credit than you have to take it or leave it.......
