Well, if I had just gone to the restaurant and had not ordered or eaten yet...I surely wouldn't. I'd go somewhere else.
I'd also speak with the general manager or manager on duty and tell them what I saw their cook do. Or if the situation is too awkward for that, find out the customer comment number or the number for the district office over that district and take care of it through them. I'd highly recommend the district office...not to be a big "snitch". But...well, this is food we're talking about. There's hundreds of people that eat that each day...that's just nasty. And they could possibly get sick from it....just depends. Anyway, I've found that most managers at the locations don't care and they just shake it off and don't do anything about it. That's why I'd suggest going through the district office number. Did you happen to notice the cook's name? You can bet that if he isn't considerate enough to wash his hands after using the restroom and then going to fix other people's food...he probably does that for a lot of things in food preparation too. For example...using whatever surfaces available to fix food (whether the surface is clean or not), etc. I've seen that stuff way too much...it's pretty sickening.

I would let the restaurant manager know and complain. He'd most likely at least talk to the cook because the "customer's always right." They can't accuse you of lying, so they'll have to listen to you and at least question the cook. If the cook denies it, then you did all you could and I'd leave the restaurant without leaving a tip and I wouldn't look back. Never go there again.

There was a Seinfeld episode about that. I think I'd leave immediately and report the incident to the health dept. at the earliest opportunity. Clearly the cook has no consideration for his customers and should not be serving food to people.
Knowledge of sanitation, etc. is the *only* reason we don't have endemic infectious disease, plagues, etc. in the developed world.

i would speak to the cook if possible myself or i would ask to speak with the manager . i would consider that the cook might be washing his or her hands in the back in the kitchen as he may have to wash his hands so often each day that he is using a special soap or something.

The same thing I did when I found a huge cockroach under my table. Inform the manager and then leave the restaurant.

I would make the biggest scene when I got back to the table to gather up my things and left. Everyone in the restaurant would know what kind of dirt bag was preparing their food!

I'd first gag, then I'd go back to my table and inform the waiter that the cook didn't wash his hands. If the waiter acted like it was nothing out of the ordinary me and my party would leave and never come back. lol..gross thought.

I would inform the manager, then leave and never go back. That's part of the reason that I prefer to cook at home.

Call the manager over and tell him/her. If I was already eating I would not pay for it OR eat any more of it. If I hadn't been served yet I would cancel the order. If the manager gave me guff about not paying I would tell him I was going to call the health department and I would do it. If they didn't want to do anything I would contact my local paper.
