He is not interested in diplomacy. There is no profit in it.

Diplomacy is not the president's job. Diplomacy is one tool available to the president. The president is the leader. He must decide which tool to use to solve a particular problem. He must also know how to use it and when to use it . He must also know when it is useless as is the case now against terrorists and Radical Islamic Extremists. They are taught that it is Allah's will that they lie to infidels. I would say that pretty much renders diplomacy all but useless.

As successful as George Bush was in diplomacy in coalition building, it is amazing the disdain and lack of leadership the George W. Bush administraion practices in the area of diplomacy. The hands off Palestinian/Israel diplomacy has been problematic, to say the least.

Actually, I know this is going to be hard for you to believe but the presidents job is not to be a diplomat, sometimes they are diplomatic on their own accord. Really, what the president does is provide overlying agenda and mission for the country throughout the four year term that he is elected.
