Massa is a good driver, and he has shown flashes that suggest he could be among the better drivers in F1. Though also some tendancies that suggest otherwise.
On the plus side, he's young, generally good at over taking slower cars, patient, and over the last year has taken remarkable strides towards becoming a front runner.
However, balancing all of that are two troubling issues that suggest he is more likely a decent, but ultimately journey man driver. First, even though he has one of the fastest cars on grid and has shown a talent for getting passed slower cars early on in races, he has not proven adept at quickly getting passed more experienced drivers in slower cars. Taking a lap longer, or even a few turns longer, in getting out of traffic could be the different between first and second place and an area he must improve.
Also troubling would be the way he has driven in the rain or other situations where traction has been limited. I remember last year that Michael Schumacher was excelling on intermediates while Massa was having trouble just keeping the car on track with full wets. The ability to drive quickly when traction is less than ideal is often a measure of how good a driver is, and in this area, Massa has been far off the pace.
Still, he is showing good pace and working well with the Ferrari team. Though I think Kimi is likely to clearly assert himself as the number 1 driver there in the next few races. But Massa may yet suprise me - but even the biggest suprise in the world would still leave him a long long ways from being "best."

A few years back massa used to be one of the mast erratic drivers. He used to lock whells, spin and crash many cars. But since 2004 he has changed a lot and become more talented. He was winter testing champion so I am sure he is presently the most talented driver on track and I am sure he will be the 2007 champion.
