It is amazing but true. Presently there is no team in the World, either in Tests or ODIs which has a player who is selected in the team for fielding alone. In the yester years, there was a player who did not contribute significanlty in batting or bowing. But his fielding--my goodness! Even Mohd Azharuddin and Jonty Rhodes would have to thnk twice about their achievements! We can say that he was selected only for his fielding. Could anyone tell me from what country he was, and what his name was?

Yes fielding in cricket has improved and is more improvised. The sliding stop near the boundry line, catching the ball with baseball fashion instead of the regular style and close-in fielders fielding with helments, shin-pads where in the yester-years close-in fielders would field without helmets and shin-guards.

India's Yajuvendra Singh was a brilliant fielder and created a record of catching six catches in a innings in a Test match at Bangalore against England. He played just because of his fielding ability. Like-wise West Indies had Gus Logie, England had Derreck Randall.
