When will the day come in which liberals and conservatives and anyone in between can work together to overcome problems with our government without holding biases or placing blame on one another's party? When will be able to look past current conundrum's to lay the foundation for new thinking and agreements. We too often pick a side and say - I will vote for this party no matter what - as I generally agree with them - without looking into the issue at hand, and we fight back and forth blaming each others parties. What can we do to overcome these obstacles?

I don't know when but it is what needs to happen. Anyone who believes that there is no bad people in their party is a sheep being lead to slaughter. Many if not most of the current people in the house and senate are out to get fat and not to help the country. Our politicians have figured out that if they distract us from their actions with alarmist propaganda and get our ADD to kick in then they can continue making profit off of their position by getting their favorite special interest groups what they want and then receiving kickback for the favor. Only when we the people take the power back from the politician and special interest will we get true representation. I am not saying that every politician is bad or just out for profit but most would sale us out. We have the power to correct this but if they can keep us split and distracted it will be business as usual for a long time. If we listen and research and make our votes based on the honesty of the person running rather than on the propaganda we should be able to fix our problems. If a politicians voting record doesn't match their speeches then why vote for them. If they do not vote on a bill for some issues then as I see it they are not doing the job they are paid to do so they will not get my support.

You ask a valid and thought provoking question. Its hard to believe that these are the 'United' States. There are very real problems facing the US at this time, and they are only going to get more difficult when the financial debt incurred affects the standard of living for most folks. But instead of coming together to discuss how it can be fixed, people are more interested in finding a scapegoat for putting the country into the mess. At the end of the day, who really cares HOW it happened? The reality is that the country is facing very difficult times...and a united country would have a better chance of living through and recovering from it...

Thanks for your question....

Pat Robinson, Rush Limbaugh and the Fox news host's have caused the problem and they need to lie in their own beds. I see it as a Republican problem coming and going, they need to control and clean up their own messes, or America will dissolve them, and that is coming real soon. I do see a rise, or creation of a third political party coming with the eradication of the GOP within the next 10 years. The Republicans hate and defamation policies have cause this debacle World wide.

The answer to this question is the same as the answer to the question "when will the sectarian violence end in Iraq?"

When each side believes they can put themselves in a better position by cooperating than by fighting each other.

When acting for the national good is also perceived as being in the interests of both sides, then they'll cooperate. Not before.

If in fact there is a group larger than the US pulling the strings, it doesn't serve their purposes for the US to unite.

As long as the little guys are willing to be tribal, outsiders can manipulate us whether at the block, company, church, town, state, or country level.

It used to be we could and we will again. The "uniter" has divided this country badly. Once he and the neocons that support him are out of office we will get back to cooperation and advance this country forward. January 20,2009 can't come soon enough.

The problem is that the answers you are looking for are different depending on whether you are conservative or liberal.

Eg, what's more important to you, individual freedom or minimising inequality and poverty?
