I think Viv Richards is the most memorable player of all the World Cups, and the best innings played so far was by Aravinda De Silva of Sri Lanka in 1996, in the World Cup Semi Final.

The Best player in all World Cuyps is the Master Blaster Vivian Richards.
The Best innings so far in the World Cups came from Australian captain Ricky Ponting in the 2003 World Cup final when he whip-lashed the Indian attack without any mercy.

According to me the best player in the history of World Cup was Clive Lloyd of West Indies and the best innings played was by Kapil Dev of India in the 1983 world cup by scoring 175 runs against Zimbawe as India was tottering the facing humiliating defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka, when Kapil came to bat. With the help of his 175 runs India could score 266 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from 5 wickets down for 17 runs. This helped not only India could defeat Zimbawe and advance further in the world cup and ultimately win the cup.

Most memorable player: Sanath Jayasuriya (SL) revolutionised cricket with his hard-hitting stroke-play at the beginning of any innings. Made great bowlers like Manoj Prabhakar look amateur the way he took them apart!
Most memorable innings: Any opening partnership between Kaluwitharana and Jayasuriya during 1996 World Cup!
Other memorable players: Martin Crowe(NZ) 1992 player of the tournament and Lance Klusener(SA) 1999 player of the tournament

Sanath Jayasuriya, the one and only Master Blaster in the
the world. So far he took 2 centuries in 2007 world cup. those centuries are must have centuries. otherwise it'll be big disaster for Sri Lankan team and he took some valuable wickets. therefor he's the best.
