Your question assumes that the President of the United States - ANY President - has the authority to set gasoline prices for the nation.
Shows how much you know about the powers of the President and world economy.
The President has no more authority to regulate the price of gasoline than you do. The price of gas is dictated by the people who supply it - this includes the people who have the oil and the people who operate the refineries. THEY are the ones who influence the price of gas.
Stop trying to dig up and manufacture crap to blame on Bush.

You give Bush entirely too much credit for the world economy and gas pricing.
If prices got up to $5.00 a gallon, we would purchase less and be less dependent on foreign oil. The economies of the OPEC nations would be hard hit.
Overthrowing a government the size of the U.S. government is a pipe dream, could never happen.

there would not be an overthrow. the government knows we have to get back and forth to work daily and needless to say, regardless of how high prices skyrocket to we will still stop at a gas pump and fill up.

Supply and demand...not the president, determines the price of gasoline. The artificially low gas prices Americans have enjoyed in the past are long gone.

Definitely, because the first thing to go will be the trucking industry. When noone has food on the shelves, that's when it gets kicked off. One issue though, the oil companies should be attacked first, they are the ones profitting the most from these BS fuel prices.

Of course not. But even if there was it would have no effect. The price of gasoline is not set by the Government, current or otherwise.

Not at all - we the sheep have grown accustomed to manipulation of oil prices to suit Bush's true constituency, the oil barons of the world. We would grumble and moan, but we would pay it.
Nothing I would like more than Hummer owners paying $200 to fill their "subtitute for having a small weiner" machines.

No, people would complain to one another and pay it. Instead of writing their legislators and demanding some action such as step up of alternative energy or restrictions on profits of oil companies. Unfortunately people are "too busy" or too lazy to call or write their legislators so like sheep to the slaughter they will pay the $5 and more. The President and his oil company buddies know it.
