I watch ABC's "Brothers and Sisters" on Sunday nights. I watch the relationship between Rob Lowe and Calista Flockhart on that show and am always amazed at how it parallels a relationship of mine. How do the writers know what's going on in my life like that? How do I get them to stop mirroring the characters' relationship after my own?

I loved the show "My-So-Called-Life," because I could see myself in the role of Angela Chase played by Claire Danes. Angela pines for Jordan Catalano physically, but is attracted to the mind of Brian (Brain) Krakow [which becomes very apparent when Brian authors a note for Jordan, and darn it all, that's when they pull the show from airing :( !!!!!!].

Recently, though, I like to imagine myself Kitty Walker on "Brothers and Sisters," because she is: passionate about politics/her life's work, a perfectionist and slow to let her feelings show. I also think she is a little "wigged out" about working and falling for a Republican (egads!).

[Although I'd like to just be Calista Flockhart because she gets to go home to Harrison Ford, and kiss Rob Lowe at work....whew!!!]

So the answer is yes, I do feel like a TV show mirrors my life, but probably more accurately I like to see myself in the characters on TV.

For a few years there, I thought The King of Queens had a hidden camera in my house to get plot ideas from. My wife used to give me some weird looks when she saw similarities, which happened all the time.

Mine mirrors Will & Grace. I've dated 3 gay guys in the past so my mother calls me "the real world Grace Adler" because I have no gay-dar.
