No way can this great nation survive without taxes. We need a strong military (even though we abuse it) as well as social services. Private sector would never pay for everything if their wasn't a government, legal system etc. forcing them to.
The money that pays for government funded research on everything comes from taxes. Our highways are paid for by taxes. Nearly everything we see, touch or feel is somewhat the result of taxes.
The real question should be how much is enough, and how do the taxpayers control how the taxes are spent.

Well if the bottom 50% of taxpayers (I assume you are in that bracket) stopped paying their taxes you could take away a whopping 4% of the money the government has to spend. Your group can't defeat a damn thing. Go get a job and stop complaining about the government!!!!

If we stop paying taxes we will lose the funding for police and fire services as well as other services we depend upon.
What we need to do is to make sure the rebuilding of Iraq is not paid for by our taxes and get the armed forces out of all the places in the world unless their governments are paying for our services. We should stop being the WELFARE department to the whole world.

wouldnt that be nice. To bad our taxes go to more then just the war. taxes are a necessity if we desire anything in return from our gov't.
I like this quote. It may help toput things into perspective a bit.
"Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans in the finite space of a planetary ecosystem as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for the who do survive."

First of all the government is all of us. And if you stop paying takes good because the IRS will have your wages garnished and penalties and interest added so you will pay more Good liberal pay more.
I don't support a lot of things govt does so can I hold my funding back for abortions, educating those with no regard for the benefit of an education like you, and the hundreds of other services you milk out of the government each day to cover your sorry ***.

They punish traitors here. And tarriest. Over throwing our government? And just what type of government would you prefer? Stop supporting the war? What if they decide your house is a good place to slam dunk the next plain? How would you feel then? We are over there to keep them from being over here.
TREASON is not a good thing...................
Iraq will let you move there....Be my guest....Get out of my country...

I definitely think that you all should. I would love for all you that subvert the US military to be placed in federal prison for tax evasion...that would be swell.
Don't make the mistake that all American Citizens are against the war.
And please clarify when you say defeat the government...are you waging war against our United States government? If so please send your address to the local FBI, CIA, and National Guard - I am sure they would be eager to assist you in claiming your 5.56mm prize.

If you want to go to jail. As a US citizen the only way you can not pay taxes is to become a citizen of another country. Good luck finding one that has no problems and never goes to war.

as a group we certainly can defeat the government, but wouldn't that be kind of silly, considering we elected them? Bush has only got like a year and a half left. I'm not sure plunging the country into mass anarchy is worth it. Plus I like my paved roads and libraries the way they are.

well wait a minute. What if we don't support abortion, or the welfare system or the state of medical care in this country, can we stop paying taxes for that reason too. We can't just commit illegal actions just because we don't agree with something.
