liberals hypocrites? the hell you say!
don't you understand freedom of speech is only for people who don't promote hate, like those mean old Christians do with their "love thy neighbor" garbage.
why look at Germany, the apex of liberalism, where you can go to jail for saying something that could be considered hate speech! my goodness imagine not going to jail for saying something ignorant even if it is a personal opinion.
and soon there will be more laws just like that in the ever enlightened Europe. We should try to follow their fine example.
of course lets not forget how desecrating any flag but America's just proves how intolerant the right really is.

Actually, I'm a liberal and I've never considered myself "enlightened". For one thing, it's rather arrogant. Also, I know that there's plenty more to learn and I always try to keep learning. Also, while there are some self-professed liberals who raise a stink whenever someone says something they don't like, I have to say that I support freedom of speech for EVERYONE, even for those with whom I disagree. By the way, hypocrisy and attempts at censorship are to be found on both ends of the political spectrum, so don't try to pin all of it on the liberals.

Why do conservatives label themselves as 'enlightened' when they are far from it?
And why do they insist on free speech, when they are quick to hush up the people that don't agree with them?
This question has been brought to you by a centerist who sees conservatives as hypocrites.

Your trolling question shows how bright you really are, and I am conservative at heart as well. Why ask such trivial questions without support of any kind? You set yourself up to fail. Labeling people as liberal and conservative is a bad idea as well, pick a topic and debate it with facts - and leave out political party BS.

I'm a liberal, and I've never hushed anyone up.
Could you provide me with a specific example of how a liberal has ever stopped you from speaking your mind? (i'll require proof. No sensationalist stories about how some liberal approached you on the street with a gun or stupid crap like that.)

Ha! Check out the neofundie favorite Newt and his statements on the first amendment. That man is a patriot for totalitarianism.

You conservatives are rather knee deep in hypocrisy, so I wouldn't talk.
You guys always moan about how "hateful" and "intolerant" the liberals are, yet you guys are always spewing venom and nasty names at the Democrats/liberals and constantly accusing them of hating America.
