I'm going through a severe depression episode and it's getting in the way of getting good grades at school. I wish I can take sometime off school but I don't think I can because I have to comply with the regulations of the immigration people to maintain my status (I'm a foreign student thus I'm on a visa.) I'll also run into problems with my sponsor - I'm on a scholarship - if I wanted to take sometime off school. They would want me to go back home and I have nothing waiting for me there !!! I really want to be in school but depression is ugly !!! I'm saying this because I've been trying to finish an article I'm reading but lack of focus in killing me. I swear I could finish it in probably less than half the time it's taking me if I wasn't depressed !!!

I suffered from depression during school too, and I can tell you that taking time off was the best decision that I could have made. It's possible that a real medical diagnosis and treatment would get you some wiggle room with your sponsor and/or immigration status. There are no rules in this country without loopholes, if you are willing to find them. You might consider the options of taking fewer classes, if that would help with your status. In any event, we are probably not the people you should be talking to about this. Talk to your immigration contact first.

It's also very possible that the right medication would help as soon as you start taking them.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor that treats depression and ADD. Be truthful on all tests and your doctor may decide you need medication. Don't take the chance on losing your scholarship. This time is crucial for you. Good luck.

If you feel that strongly that your depression is affecting your schoolwork and your life, you should talk to a Doctor about it. You never know, it could be something physical that is causing your depression and lack of concentration. If it is clinical depression and a chemical imbalance, your Dr can give you something to balance you out. Please talk to your Dr. about this. There is no reason for you to suffer this way. Good luck to you.

seek professional help, maybe talking to someone and medications can help alleviate the symptoms
IF you get kicked out of the country for the not attending school violation......you'll REALLY be depressed
