(x - 3)^2 + xy - y^3 when x = 7, y = - 3
=(7-3)² + (7) (-3) - (-3)³ :substitute the values
=16+(-21)-(-27)
= -5-(-27)
= 22 :answer

just take it step by step
(x - 3)^2 + (xy) - (y^3)
insert values for x & y
(7-3)^2 + (7*-3) - (-3^3)
do math inside parenthses
4^2 + (-21) - (-27)
adjust plus/minus signs
4^2 - 21 + 27
or
16 - 21 + 27
finish it off
22

your expression is equal to 4^2 + (-21) - (-27) when you substitute the values of x and y as you specified. it is then equal to 16 - 21 + 27 = 22.
