I have rheumatoid arthritis, and because I take methotrexate I have blood drawn monthly to check for liver damage.

On Saturday, I went for my lab work but wouldn't bleed. My blood was thick-almost like syrup-and I was unable to give the required 2 tubes.

I'm normally a bleeder, and this was highly unusual.

The other drugs I take are 5 mgs prednisone, zantac, and 2400 mgs of ibuprofen daily.

The 2400 mg is doctor prescribed. I was thinking also that it might be caused by the ibuprofen.

Call the emergency room and explain this to them. Maybe it is dehydration. Call me or e-mail me anytime.

Hey RedQueen,
My sister and daughter both have Crohn's disease and my sister has also taken methotrexate.
You are probably very dehydrated, but put a call into your doc.
the ibuprofen should make you bleed MORE not less.

Hope you feel better soon!!
