If you want to be more practical rather than a dreamer, then fine. But birth order doesn't bear out your theory. I've read the middle child is the trouble-maker because they are sandwhiched between the first (spoiled) and the third (another competitor, smaller and cuter). Other theories abound too. Why can't someone by practical in things that need practicality, but at the same time be a dreamer. While you can find tons of programs that can supposedly help you change, you ought first to decide what, if anything, really needs changing. The fact that you even ask the question here suggests you are being somewhat practical-minded. So. Next question?

I, too, am the middle child and am artistic and a dreamer. However, I have also disciplined myself to be an achiever as well. I guess the military helped me with that. I think you can't get caught up in the fact that you are a middle child so you are doomed to be one particular way. You can be and do anything you set your mind to. I truly believe that we make our own way , our own decisions and can make of ourselves anything we are willing to work hard at. Set goals for yourself that are acheivable and each time you reach one of those goals you will gain more confidence in yourself. Believe in yourself and your dreams and you can accomplish anything you set out to do. It's all up to you and how hard you are willing to work at it.

Some, not all first born are leaders.
I never heard that middle born are artistic. I think you have to accept yourself for who you are. I say this as a middle child and also an artistic person. We are all different; celebrate your artistic side.
