In days gone by, urine oddly enough was one of the main sources for chemical uses - particularly with regard to KNO3 - potassium nitrate / salt petre.
This was one of the reasons why at one point on history it was illegal for many homes to have anything other than an earth floor - the top layer of soil could be harvested and processed - presumably people used to urinate on the floor inside their mud huts if the weather was grim outside.
so:-
Diet - Bananas are good
Historical checmical - Urine
Modern chemical source - mined as potash - but also from oceans

Potassium salts such as carnallite, langbeinite, polyhalite, and sylvite are found in ancient lake and sea beds.
The principal source of potassium, potash, is mined in Saskatchewan, California, Germany, New Mexico, Utah, and in other places around the world.
