While there is no essential-self there is an existential-self Plato didn't believe that, but the Buddha would agree. The Buddha would go on to say that there is no problem with understanding the existential self as long as one does not become attached to it.

Just one? Tough choice... You know, I wanted to sound smart and say "both", but I saw that other people did it before me and, suddenly, it didn't sound that smart anymore. Then I wanted to say "none" and give you a third variant, something deep, but, then, I realized that you just wanted people to choose one of the two variants that you gave them. As a consequence, I have to say "know thyself". Why? It suits me. Besides, thinking of what to answer helped me learn something new about myself, so why would I choose "forget thyself"?

Good for you, Jones!

I chose Plato 20 years ago!0!

It is nice to take a break(Buddha) from time to time, but it didn't work for me.

Good luck!

I would say "forget yourself"... Buddhism tends to focus on generating a sense of humility and recognizing that the ultimate key to spiritual release is by recognizing one's relatively small place in the world continuum...there was a world before you, and there will continue to be a world after you're gone...so appreciate your position in life and ride it 'til the wheels fall off as they say...

Both - for to know yourself and then accept all about you is the frist steps to changing

If Hitler had known why he hated Jews so much then he could have delt with it and 6 million people would not have been exterminated.
