Hey,
Basically i got myself a computer a few weeks back, which i've gradually been upgrading, with a new disk drive, and today i recieved a new (basic model) creative sound card. I currently believe the computer i am using to have no sound applications installed, at least when i attempt to play a c.d. it fails, and when i do dxdiag it says that there is no sound device available.
So today i tried to install this sound card, i plugged the sound card into what i believe to be called a 'pci' slot and connected the cd wire into the appropriate socket.
However when i then turned the computer on i was unable to get any signal, basically i could not get a picture to come up on my screen. (which is currently being done through my graphics card via a dvi to hdmi wire)
I am quite baffled as to why this is, and any help would be greatly apprieciated!
Thanks
Kris

It doesn't seem to allow me to answer your messages - which seems pretty stupid - but i will answer them here.
Windows is absolutely fine when the sound card is not plugged in, it is only when it is that i have a problem. I do have a spare pci slot that i haven't tried so i will give that a go now and let you know if it makes a difference!
Thanks for all your responces so far!

Unplug the sound card and see if windows boots up.If it does, try one of the other pci slots. If same problem occurs it is possible it is the sound card at fault - incompatibility of hardware conflict.Either swap card for another or get a pctech to check for you.

you will no longer get any concern by ability of putting in 2 sound card, what you will possibly desire to do is to stick to technique for installation your new sound card. after installation you will might desire to go with which sound card to apply at controll panel-> sound and audio gadget->audio

Take the computer back to the vendor, something is terribly wrong with Windows.
