Because we are more dangerous, but we have never been an invading nation until 9/11 when the radical Islamic muslims spread throughout Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Palestine and probably even Egypt decided to kill 3,000 American citizens. We are a sleeping giant and we don't move easily or quickly. History has proven this, but don't attack us. When you wake us up to the other world around us and get us mad we are dangerous. We come into war only when we see some little country being bullied by another country. If you feel sorry for Saddam Hussein who killed many of his own people plus many Iranians, and tried to bomb Israel, then you are upholding horrible behavior. If you feel sorry for the Taliban and bin Laden, then you are upholding bad behavior. Terrorists have taken peace from the entire world. America doesn't like it and we are a dangerous nation when attacked. America likes peace. Freedom in our nation requires a great police force and we love our freedom even when the average American may own 5 guns. This is a part of freedom to be able to own a gun and protect our own family. We choose this way of life and we will not tolerate a terrorist invasion that changes our way of life.

The European image of the USA just isn't as positive as it used to be. It started with the insanely silly impeachment of Clinton, a president that we Europeans trusted a lot.

Then Bush stole the first elections, he even got elected again after lying to the whole world about Iraq.

Our image of Bush is that of a cowboy, who attacks countries as he pleases. Of course that's a scary idea.

The USA is playing the part of 'police of the world', but they give us the feeling to be far above any law themselves.

I know our image of the USA is kinda generalizing. I'm aware of that. But I also see more danger coming from Bush than from Teheran.
