Go to a garden center and buy the plant. Put it in full sun, and it will grow. It reseeds itself every year. I have plenty.

Yes, catnip is very easy to grow. It s in the mint family and will spread and use up a lot of space. If you have cats, they like it best when you first plant and then just before it flowers. My cats have never bothered the catnip while it was flowering or had flower heads. I guess it loses its "flavor" or potency when it flowers. When I first planted the catnip, I put a milk crate over it. There are plenty of holes in the milk crate for sun to come through and the cats couldnt get it until it was able to fend for itself.

Actually it is very easy to grow, the problem is keeping the cats away from it while it gets established. I tried shutting it in the greenhouse but they managed to batter the door down.

Like the first person said, it is very easy to grow. Just be sure to put it somewhere where you don't mind it expanding its territory, it's pretty invasive.
