The "ipod" was going to be the name for a new kind of Internet kiosk from apple, which never really took off. When the mp3 player was released, they were a bit confused about what to call it. The person leading the sales team came up with the "pod" as it reminded him of something he had seen in 'A Space Odyssey' Quote 'Open the pod bay door Hal'
the i was put to pod to compliment the success of the new imac and the rest is history!!
so I is for Internet
imac - first mac with Internet
itunes - Internet music store
ilife - program that works together and uploads work onto the Internet
the i was then used as an "umbrella" for apples other products due to it's amazing success

The Original Unit with an "i" was the "iMac". As it was specifically produced for the Internet age, they added the "i" for Internet. It was logical, that when they brought out an Internet laptop that it should be called the "iBook". At this point the "i" became a trade mark purely by association. It was then logical to add an "i" to the front of every new product name.

Apple is obsest with the letter i, they tend to make many of their designs with an i infront, it is because they cant think of anythink else to put their, it is like their signiture mark, and also because they are thick.

Idiot - idiotPod - for the sheep that buy the product even though it's more expensive, less flexible, not robust, needs replacing every year, not the best looking/stylish product
As you can see I've had problems (again and again) with Apple and their rubbish product
