I had the loss of libido for close to 2 months after starting Lexapro. BUT, I had already lost most of it anyway due to the insane depression I fell into in the 4 months before I got on the meds. My dosage was raised to 20 mgs around the 6 week mark, I began to feel better with in 2 weeks and my libido began to feel more normal again. Possibly because I was finally feeling better. I haven't had much of a problem since although I have that feeling like I can go without sex for a long time but once it's initiated, I have no problems with orgasms or anything.

Zoloft was the antidepressant that killed my libido in a very annoying way. I wanted to have sex a lot but had such a difficult time having an orgasm that I 'gave up' a lot and got angry. It also wasn't helping much with my depression and it certainly did nothing for my anxiety.

Yes, I had a loss of libido while on lexapro. It's a common side effect and it was one of the reasons I stopped taking it. If you like the lexapro, try adding wellbutrin to it. Or you could just take wellbutrin on its own, but lexapro is a better antidepresant. Wellbutrin is good for giving you energy.

Some people take a pill holiday on the weekends. They stop the lexapro on thursday/friday and start it again on sunday so they can have sex on the weekend. This doesn't lessen the antidepressant effect.

It does? Excuse my ignorance, but my wife has been on Lexapro for a year, but we don't have sex anymore, so I never knew.

that is a common side effect of anti-depressants, it may take a little time but hang in there, i know it took me a while, if the drug is working then be patient because half the battle is finding one that works for you

Ask your Doctor to switch you to the antidepressant, Wellbutrin. The ads for it on tv claim to have no sexual side effects.
