All the people who are saying yes will regret it later. You people are FILTHY HYPOCRITES. He did well for india in 4 world cups and in the 5th he failed in two matches. Mark my words the people who say yes will have to eat their words later. As regards Ian Chappell & Mike Atherton, they just want an oppurtunity to discredit Sachin.

One of the worst things I have seen in this world is the word 'image'. We should by all means praise a player when he is playing well, but (I challenge any fan of Sachin on this issue) when a batsman is playing pathetically, no one says that. For almost four years now, he is slogging. We should not bend rules for any particular player. Some time back, when he was called for a fitness test, he refused. Had any other player done that, he would have been kicked out the team.
We all know that NOT EVEN IN A SINGLE FINAL DURING THE YEARS 1998,1999,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004 AND 2005 did he contirbute significantly. Most of his innings are NOT chanceless. Just see his performance in the recent overseas tours of Pakistan, South Afirca and West Inides!
I have seen this wonderful batsman play some majestic innings, but not during the last four years.
Those who say he performed well in all the last World Cups, please take a minute or two to see his performance during World Cup 1999. Simply pathetic. He did perform creditably in 1996 and 2003 but was not a blaster. Jaisurya and Kaluwithrana were blasters in 1996 and John Davison, in my humble opinion, was the blaster in World Cup 2003.
Ganguly has played about 100 ODIs LESS than Tendulkar, but still has a wonderful performance.
If Sachin can perform, let him play. But do not bend the rules for his sake. Many of his perfornances during the last four years has been pathetic, simply pathetic. Ponting ( I do not like him as a perrson) has been the best batsman during the last four years, and during 1996-1999 Aravinda De Silva of Sri Lanka was the best batsman of the world. Ask the Aussies. Steve Waugh lost a series in Sri Lanka just due to this batsman, and when Ponitng was going great guns.
In so far as my dear country is concerned Dravid(not as captain) and Saurav must be allowed to continue because both are presently in fine nick. If Sachin is still allowed, it will prove one thing-politics, and connections rule.

I don't have anything against Sachin. He is a good cricketer and there’s no doubt about it. The point is that, due to various factors like, his injuries, operations in the past and the age, which is 34, he is not able to put his best. He will never be the same Sachin who use to play a big game for him and for the country. If you have noticed, he is not even able to throw a ball directly from boundary in the gloves of the wicket keeper without pitching it minimum twice or thrice on the ground!!
He must be knowing these facts too, even more better than anybody else!
By ignoring realities, he is harming not only Indian cricket but also will damage his own image and his own physique too. ( he may get damaged his operated shoulder, elbow or knee, he may become victim of depression and that could lead to even bigger problems)
So according to me, he has achieved a lot, now at least in his own interest, he must retire. The writing on the wall is very clear. May god give him the ability to read it.

People in India pray to him as if he is God. If he doesn't score a hundred, his posters are burnt. The public should treat him better. The Indian public are hypocrites. Me an Indian too, feel tendulkar should have performed better in the world cup. But why aren't critising Sehwag, for his lack of form pre-world cup. The only reason is the Indian fanatics are jealous of what Tendulkar has achieved. And I do not believe Tendulkar, or other players should be treated this way. And tendulkar SHOULD NOT RETIRE. And if he does watch what is going to happen to Indian cricket. Watch. I hope the board members suffer in some way. I want this message to passed on to other people by e-mail.

Hi all,
Why did the questions of retirement came?its not fair on our part to pose with such a question because player like sachin should not be sent home on one incidence of debacle regarding with world cup. People have really forgotten or regretting the facts that he is the highest run holder in one day matches, highest century holder, & etx which made indian proud of being indian . Now what happen!afterall IT'S ALL IN THE GAME.

I don't think so. Performance in one series(I know WC is more then just a series) cann't judge someone credential. An Batsman like Sachin Tendulkar born in Century only. My advice would be let him play as long as he want. Sachin himself is good judge of his retirement.

not really i think he should be told to play more then his average i mean say his average is 54 then he should be told that in whole of series he has to play more then 54 average and all matches he played divided by 100 he made eg 200 matches and 45 hundreds then he should be told that he has to hit 100 after every 4 matches only then he should be allowed to play or told to go to himalya or andman nicobar islands for that matter it should be for all senior players this formula 1)dravid 2)sewag 3) saurav 4)yuvraj etc all those who have plyed more then 2 series or 10 matches

No, everyone has performed badly, logically if u insist that sachin should retire, then everyone else should also retire.
However, I feel that the cricket chief, selectors and coach should retire. The captain may retire, atleast from captaincy.
