The above messages did not tell you that the new drive will go to the center connection of the dual IDE ribbon. The Master drive will go at the farthest end from the motherboard.

All you need to do, is look carefully at the cables that are plugged into it, in the current PC. Then pull out the hardrive, and ALL cables attached to it, except the power cable...your other PC will have the cable for it.

Plug in all the cables, in the new PC, exactly the same way as the other pc had them

You do not need to install anything. Turn on your pc, and if you have everything right, your new pc will boot up, and you will be able to access both harddrives through My Computer.

If you come up with a boot error message, email me, and I'll help you through it.

Hope this hepls:-)

You will need 1 open IDE plug, 1 open 4 pin molex power connection, and 1 open drive bay. Set the jumpers to the correct settings, I.E. slave and master. Plug the power and IDE in, screw in the drive, and boot up. The computer should see the drive right away with no extra work... if it does not then the HD may be dead.

Just three things:

1. Is the hard drive SATA or IDE(Wide flat cable or narrower, slightly thicker) You'll need to make sure that a cable is available for it.
2. Can you access BIOS? If you can, make sure all the drives are set to "AUTO". The next time your computer is booted, it will detect it and obtain all necessary information for you.
3. If the drive is on a cable with another drive, make sure that one is set to MASTER and one is set to SLAVE (This is usually done with jumpers). If the drive is by itself on the cable, then set it MASTER.

A lot of times, you just plug htm into an available drive ribbon cable.

If that doesn't work, change the jumper to slave position.
