With strong backing of the former the latter got chances in test & one day cricket otherwise much better spinners & fast running players were & are knocking at the door but of no avail, making mockery of merit & quality. As long as Sharad Saheb is there around none can dare exclusion of Tendulkar & Agarkar from the team irrespective of their recent poorest performances, a mirror to see what they're upto.
In 1996 when Tendulkar was captain, Azharuddin fared badly in few matches & Tendulkar personally got him removed but a year later when Tendulkar fared very badly in 'Independence Cup' & other series, he was retained. Then Gavaskar did not write a series of articles against Tendulkar in the same manner as he did so against Azhar like a great extremist so much that Azhar had to issue a press statement that Gavaskar was deadly against him, which was true too. So, this sort of biases do definitely exist in entire west zone which is visible in decision making processes not only now , rather, for last four decades. You see, Ajit Wadekar was a bad batsman & his highest score was 91 in third test against Australia at Delhi in 1969 in which a lot of bad umpiring was reported in his favour. Later, he became captain & after losing badly against England, stones were hurled at his house at Shivaji Park area of Bombay. He had to go. Like Powar many substandard players like R G Nadkarni, Kulkarni, Surti, Ashok Mankad, Chandu Borde & Ashok Gandotra were then selected in the team but when New Zeland team visiting India under G R Dawling slaughtered Indian team at 89 & 75 runs as totals in both innings respectively in third test, complete overhauling was done & those bad players vanished like horns from the head of an ***. Even Gvaskar may not be aware of those things now. I think the time has come now too to get rid of some bad players from the team similarly to save cricket in India , otherwise example of Pakistan is clearly there to learn a good lesson.

Both are Mumbaikars(of Mumbai).Mumbaikars have generally shown a tendency to make the world(leave alone India) believe that only Mumbaikars can play for India and when one Mumbaikar is heading the Board and another Mumbaikar the Selection committee, it is surprising how a third Mumbaikar failed to get selected to the team.Case of quota system?

One is a politicians the other is a cricketeer, I don't know about numerology, but this politics and cricket is finishing India and Indian cricket, they must not mix but remain isolated. Politics has just finished cricket in India and brought us to a level, where the street kids play more interesting cricket. If we allow this to continue, it will be the death of Indian cricket.
