It could be.

However, read your manual. The recovery software might be on the hard drive. If that's the case, make a backup onto disc when you get a chance. Having it on the drive does you no good if the entire drive dies.

Definitely call the vendor you purchased it from too.

I think you mean rebuilding rather than rebooting. Anyway rebuilding is not just a simple task. You could look to make a Ghost image of you PC and that way if the hard disk failed you have a cloned image to put back. If you did want to do that I would recommend you purchase a package called Ghost from Symantec. This allows you to burn an image of your PC to CD. If the PC got into serious trouble you have something that you can use to recover. If you do buy this you need to keep refreshing the CD you make. - i.e., every time you add new software or hardware to your PC or patch it I would say re image it. Or re image it monthly. Hope this helps.h

Pc's usually come with a program you run to make the recovery cd's. You might never need them, but they could come in handy.

You can reboot, restart, upgrade and a whole lot of things without the cd.

You will need it when something crazy happens and we need to rebuild you pc. When that day comes, you better already have the disks made.

A lot of the answers are correct, but if it's a packard bell or similar you may not have a manual either. They create a recovery partition on your hard drive in case of a corrupted installation. They also quite often put the manual on your hard drive. Go to start all programmes and look for something called documentation or similar. Click on this and you shpuld get an on screen manual. Find the bits about making recovery disc and print them out. Hope this helps.

'Reboot' just means 're-start', its what you do when you switch your pc off then switch it on again. Check your manual plus the manufacturers website.
Its possible to make a system recovery disc yourself. You need some blank cd's to make a disc.
There may also be a recovery partition on your hard drive.

Check your manual and website first because the helplines are often a bit pricey to use.

Some new computers you are prompted to make a recovery disk. There probally is a program under start somewhere that will do this task.

But i would contact the people you bought the computer from to find out what this process is and also make sure that you accually got a legal copy of the operating system.

For Windows XP you make your own from the HD.

Learn to use the "System Restore". This will solve most
of your problems.
