scruffy, the fact that the last 7 studio albums got to number 1 in the uk apart from "up" no2 but they don't do that well in the charts in the us.I'm a big fan so don''t get me wrong

I think that REM has a pretty sizable fanbase in the USA, they are just not currently at the height of popularity. They haven't had a song on rotation at MTV for a bit, but I bet they can still pack concerts

Because America and UK have always traded like that. You guys didn't like Black Sabbath, we took them, and in return we handed over R.E.M. We got the better deal.Sorry.
