I had this happen to me also, the other sock will sometimes get caught in the washing machine and sooner or later it will end up in the pump and plug up every thing. Lay the washing machine on its side and remove the hose from the pump and you will find the problem your sock. Try washing your socks in net bag to end this problem.

#1 It hides under the bed and isn't included in the washload.

#2 It may be recruited as material for an Ugly Sock Creature or similar (I just got the book).

#3 In an overloaded washer, it can go out through an improperly open "overflow" and not re-appear in the same location in the same form, ew!

# Odd socks get worn with boots or as underlayer that doesn't show.

Hahaha. It happens to me all the time as well. I always find the other sock the following week when I do a new washing of whites, and "tara", surprise there it is, the black one I lost. So, It never worries me too much I only have to wait happily for next week.

Between the inner and outer drums of the washing machine. Sometimes you'll then find them blocking the filter, otherwise you'll have to wait until the machine needs stripping down for repair and then all will be revealed ! ! !

The washing machine eats it. Or sometimes I find it in the dog basket - it never reached the washing machine.

They go to sockie sockie land. A beautiful place in the sky where the sun shines all the time, birds sing, trees are always green, and there is NOT ONE smelly foot in sight.

Don't you know? "They" steal them. Most of the time "They" take the left sock and leave the right one.
