Apart from a small wobble in the orbit, the visible portion of the Moon remains the same all the time. More or less of the Earth-facing side is illuminated by the Sun during the monthly cycle. As more of the visible side is illuminated, the Moon is said to be waxing and after full moon it is said to be waning but the same side of the Moon remains visible at all times.
