I have never had any problems with them. I find it interesting how they manage to exist without the things we take for granted such as cell phones and computers. I also admire that the Amish community seems to hold things such as family and community in higher regard than we do. Because their life is so simple and apparently stress free they will probably out live most of us.

Highly intelligent people with an incredible social structure. They've mastered economics and family life--funny because they do things "the old way", most people in the states do things "the new way", and we just can't get it figured out.

They've forsaken the abuse of mechanical technology to praise and live with social, mental, and spiritual technology.

They know what they're doing, and they deserve our kudos.

As far as the drug thing, though, Amish kids party hard. When a kid turns 18 they get to leave the Ordnung for a while and go "live". They learn to drive, they have huge raves, they basically do everything they've never done in a very short period of time and in large doses. However, most stil choose to go back to the Ordnung.

I respect their way of life. They are good people with strong morals and their own beliefs. On an ecological stand point they are also leaving a very small footprint because they are self-sufficient and live mostly off the land.

Salt of the Earth,....good people with a good idea about how to live a good life. You can't blame the Amish for global warming, abortion , teen sex, drug abuse, they don't run grow ops or meth labs. the list goes on........
